How It Works
Public notice of both zoning
and platting actions is published in the Borough News
section of the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner. Local property
owners are also notified as follows:
Zoning Actions: For rezones,
conditional use approvals and variances, property owners
within 1,000 feet (500 feet within the
boundaries of Fairbanks and North
Pole) are notified by mail. In addition, the
property is posted with a public hearing sign at least 20
days before the Planning Commission public hearing. Both the
mailed notice and the sign will include a case file number.
Please use this number when contacting the Department (see
below) for more information about a case.
Platting Actions: For
all subdivision actions except Quick Plats, property owners
adjoining
the proposed subdivision are notified by mail. At present, a
public hearing sign is not posted for platting actions.
Preliminary Quick Plats are noticed in the Fairbanks Daily
News-Miner only.
