 FNSB Recycling Task Group

In June 2006, the Fairbanks North Star Borough Mayor created a Recycling Task Group comprising of members from the Eielson Air Force Base, Fort Wainwright Army Base, School District Physical Plant, University of Alaska Fairbanks Physical Plant, City of Fairbanks Public Works Department, Fairbanks North Star Borough Public Works Department, and members of the community.  The Recycling Group was formed to recommend a comprehensive, sustainable recycling plan that the Borough can implement and afford.  The Task Group was to evaluate:

  1. Alternatives from the Borough’s recycling study performed by MACTEC Engineering.
  2. Consider any alternatives and solutions that members bring forward
  3. Prepare estimates of cost for alternatives the group is serious about
  4. Recommend a course of action for the administration to follow

The group met twice a month and developed a draft Recycling Program.  The Draft of the program is summarized in the September 12, 2006 Executive Summary prepared by the Borough Public Works Department.
