Working with AmeriCorps VISTA, Pioneer Park has put together a revitalization plan on how to share Native Alaskan culture with Pioneer Park visitors from all over the world.
The revitalization plan started in 2005. Below are some of the accomplishments made during the last three years.
- Constructed a collections database.
- Conducted an in-park survey that confirmed our guest are very interested in learning about Native Alaskan History.
- Remodeled the museum to include a TV room, Alaska mural, and new exhibits.
- Added interpretive labels to the artifacts on display in the museum.
- Received a $2,000 dollar grant from State of Alaska Museums. These funds are being used to obtain equipment needed to record and share oral histories.
