Through the Fairbanks Vanpool program, eight to 13 people can share the ride to work for approximately $130* a month, a savings of thousands of dollars each year over the cost of driving to work alone. The longer your commute, the more economical a vanpool tends to be. One person usually drives and maintains the van while riders pay a monthly fare. The Fairbanks North Star Borough provides the van and your monthly fare covers fuel, maintenance, insurance and mileage.

Vanpooling is safe, reliable and the most cost effective means of commuting. Our vans are comfortably equipped with overhead reading lights, individually controlled heat/air vents and reclining high-back seating.
