The Air Quality Index is currently Moderate. Unusually sensitive people should consider reducing prolonged or heavy exertion. The primary pollutant for the current AQI is PM-2.5 Particulate. The National Weather Service forecast is expected to result in poor dispersion conditions. Therefore Air Quality overnight is expected to be Moderate, and to comply with federal health standards.
Carbon Monoxide levels are currently in the Good Air Quality Index range. The eight hour average of CO is 0.7ppm as of 4:00 PM. Yesterday's maximum eight hour average was 0.8ppm.
Particulate levels are currently in the Moderate Air Quality Index range. The 24 hour average of PM-2.5 is 17.7μg/m³ as of 4:00 PM. Yesterday's 24 hour average was 15.2μg/m³.

I/M Program Update
Before January 1st, 2010, and your vehicle is subject to the I/M Program, you will have to have a I/M certificate in order to register the vehicle if you do not want the registration to lapse. If there are any changes that may affect the vehicle registration process for vehicles subject to the I/M Program before January 1st, 2010, there will be a notice through the Public Service Announcement system. Open Burning Ban From November 1 thru the end of February, it is unlawful to open burn within areas of the Borough designated as Urban, Urban preferred commercial, Light or Heavy Industrial, or Perimeter area, with camp fires being an exception. For any questions involving open burning, please call 459-1325.
Seasonal(Waiver)Seasonally waived vehicles are not to be operated in the Borough between November 1 and March 31. Those of you who have received seasonal waivers and/or have seasonally registered vehicles have signed a legally binding agreement which states that the seasonally registered vehicle will not be operated within the Fairbanks North Star Borough or any other I/M area between November 1st and March 31st. Operation during this period constitutes a class A misdemeanor; in addition, the waiver immediately becomes void, and the borough shall not approve another seasonal waiver for that motorist.
